Dairy Farm

yesterday i went to the dairy farm with my pre-vet and intro to ag class. it was an all day field trip! it was fair oaks dairy farm. first we went through this wierd museum thing and learned all about when the cows were first milked by hand and how it turned into something way bigger. then we went on a little tour bus and looked all around the farm at all the equipment, calves, and cows. the place where they milked them was this huge rotating circle thing that every cow was attached to this machine milking thing. it was cool how the cows knew to get off the circle when they were done and to get on the circle when there was a spot ready. after that we just went to eat lunch, and they gave us some of their really good milk for free! then we went into the birthing barn. we saw a cow give birth to twins. it was awesome. but on the second calf, the helper person had to jump in and pull the calf out her self. it was crazzzy! then we saw another calf be born. it was overall a pretty cool experience and now i know where milk really comes from. the baby calves outside in their homes.

this baby calf was just born.

This video is a lady trying to pull out the 2nd twin. it was a little bit stuck. even though on the video you dont see it come out, it ended up popping out about 30 seconds after i took this video!!
